Vocational Rehab Cnslr (Pool)
The Vocational Rehab Counselor assists patients and their families, for patients who were working prior to their illness or injury. The position identifies, explores, and accesses benefits that the patient is eligible for, including: - Social Security - Short and long term disability - Emergency assistance programs offered through local, state and federal agencies In addition, the position may work with the patient and his/her employer regarding return to work activities, or exploring alternate employment opportunities as needed.
Job Code: 100584License or Certification: - Licensure as a Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor by the Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health Professionals; OR - Certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification with the completion of graduate coursework at a CORE accredited university program in all of the following: Job Placement/Development/Vocational Analysis/Transferable Skills Development; Vocational Assessment & Evaluation; Vocational & Affective Counseling; Rehabilitation Plan Development; and Medical Aspects of Disabilities; or as determined by CORE and as specified in the Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor statute; OR Education, Training and Years of Experience: - Master's degree or higher with a minimum of 48 semester hours in an approved related field, including Psychology, Counseling, and Education with a concentration in Psychology or Counseling, with completion o f graduate coursework at a CORE accredited university program in all of the following: Job Placement/Development/Vocational Analysis/Transferable Skills Development; Vocational Assessment & Evaluation; Vocational & Affective Counseling; Rehabilitation Plan Development; and Medical Aspects of Disabilities; or as determined by CORE and as specified in the Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor statute Machines, Equipment Used: - General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer. Physical Requirements: - Good visual acuity and ability to communicate. - Ability to lift, lower, push, pull and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements. Skills and Abilities: - Ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively. - Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner. - Ability to work independently without supervision. Environmental Conditions: - Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure. - Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required. - Handicapped accessible. - May work under stressful circumstances at times. Proficiency or Productivity Standards: - Meets established attendance standards. - Adheres to hospital/department dress code including wearing ID badge. - May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines. - May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts. - Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e., before, during or after a disaster. - May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives. - May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
